Every Candela fellow attends tuition-free. But tuition-free is only the beginning. Each year, 60–70% of fellows receive additional financial support to cover airfare, hotel, and more. Our goal is to make financial aid available to 100% of fellows each year.

Our Unique Design

Theater Access

Candela fellows attend major New York productions each year, including Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, as part of their artistic and professional development such as HELL'S KITCHEN, SUFFS, BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB, CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL, TITANIQUE, HERE LIES LOVE and more!

Demand and Capacity

More than 300 writers have applied to Candela. Donor support helps us meet the needs of fellows we accept, which are 20 percent of applicants.

With more donations, we could serve more fellows. We wish to provide the opportunity to everyone, eliminating all barriers to access.

Our goal is to serve everyone in need. To do so, we need to grow our capacity.
